NOLA in Plano: Lunch at Cajun Tailgators

There’s something very special about New Orleans and something even more special about its food.

Just thinking about the food is making me hungry. Must.Stop.

Or maybe I just need to go to Cajun Tailgators in Plano.

It’s an itty-bitty shop (with a food truck though, which is no itty-bitty thing). But we don’t let size distract us from the main thing which, in this case, is the fact that they bring their bread in from New Orleans.

A small, but tasty and oh-so-important, detail that makes all the difference when you bite into a po’boy. There’s just nothing like the real thing.

(Just ask any lover of Chicago pizza – the true believers drop ship because the difference is in the crust.)

I’ve now gone twice to Cajun Tailgators for lunch. Both times I ordered a po’boy – the first was fried crawfish, the second was fried shrimp.

I preferred the crawfish as it was slightly more tender and flavorful.

The po’boys come with a side of onion ring or Cajun fries. Smart lunch-eaters heading back to work opt for the fries. Even if I wasn’t going back to work, I’d still pick them because they are goooood. And I say that as an onion ring lover.
