Cross Training

Now that Kelly’s finger has healed, twice a week we’re heading to the pool to swim laps.

Yes…swimming laps. I haven’t swum laps since swimming lessons and I don’t want to think about how many years ago that was.

Kelly’s never swum laps before – in fact, he’s never taken swimming lessons. I’m his instructor for the time being.

Our goal is to improve endurance, work on our breathing and to give our bodies a different type of training. We have several running friends who swim (and bike) and have found it helpful in overall fitness as well as race performance.

We’re fans of both of those things.

Anyway – swimming. Who would have thought it?
