Home Improvements Can Be Fun

Even when the home improvements are expensive hidden ones – like insulation (and solar-powered attic fans and an attic tent) – when you pay cash for them, they don’t seem like such a big deal.

The solar-powered attic fans were a huge improvement over our old whirly-birds. We even added a fan in a section of our attic that didn’t have proper venting – an immediate improvement in the overall temperatures in that space.

The first time I’ve ever looked directly at the sky through our attic!

Hopefully our new attic tent will do the same thing, preventing cold (and hot) air from creeping into our upstairs hallway space from the trapdoor attic access point.

But the biggest improvement, by far, is our new insulation – nice and deep.

They tell us that it should last for years and years. You can bet that the budget-watching Boy is going to track how our monthly energy bill changes in the months to come.
