The Preserve in the Urban Environment

Last weekend The Boy and I visited a little known nature preserve tucked in the midst of the rapidly expanding Dallas suburbs.

Spring Creek Forest Preserve is owned by the City of Garland, and is full of natural trails, lovely large trees and windy concreted paths. It’s also the only place in the world where five different species of oak trees can be found.

I’d write more, but I’d rather let the photos do the talking:

It’s sad that I have to put something like this on my 101 list to actually go and visit.
