World (or at least Texas) Famous BBQ

If there’s one thing that’s sure to happen when you’re on a hurry-up-and-get-there road trip, you’re going to miss a meal.

At least we planned to miss a meal on our way to Shiner, Texas, and were properly fortified with carrot sticks and water. Hey – it did the job for delaying starvation so we’d have plenty of room for world-famous barbecue in the world-famous barbecue town of Lockhart, Texas.

Before we left Dallas, I sent a quick text to a friend, T, to ask for a recommendation. She immediately said, “Black’s BBQ.”

So Black’s it was.

Black’s is an institution – founded in 1932 and well-known for its flavorful sauces.

Mmmmm….brisket.

Dig in, my Favorite Boy, dig in…

Verdict? Their sausage was good, though not the best we’ve ever had. The brisket was wonderful, as were the beans, black eyed peas, coleslaw and barbecue sauce. It was definitely worth the stop!
