Technically, Oktoberfest is in September in Munich. But I live in the US and our country likes to extend celebrations.
That’s how I was able to go to an Oktoberfest celebration last week, in late October. And technically it wasn’t a traditional Oktoberfest festival, but it was an Oktoberfest-themed event – complete with an oompah band, catered German food and lots and lots of beer.
I think that counts, don’t you?
By the way – don’t ever let anyone tell you that German food is heavy and plain-tasting. I’m sure some is, but what I’ve had at family meals and what we were served at last week’s event certainly wasn’t. Yum-yum!
