Enough is Enough

We’re stir crazy. Stir crazy, stir crazy, stir crazy!!!!

The Great Ice Storm of 2011 revealed yet another uninsulated water pipe (hidden somewhere in the wall or under the jacuzzi tub) that has resulted in frozen pipes in our master bathroom shower and tub. Grrrr….

{I suppose we should be grateful that no other pipes have frozen thanks to dripping taps on all other lines, plus a heavy amount of preparation in wrapping pipes, spraying foam insulation, draining hoses and the like. But still.}

We’ve also had rolling electrical outages to help the power grids recover from multiple failures overnight. We’ve had four total here at the Hayley House and, from reading the news, I think we’re through for now.

{Another word of gratefulness: the longest was 20 minutes, the shortest 5 minutes.}

The driveway is a solid sheet of ice and the wind chill is bone-numbing. But I did have sand in the garage to sprinkle on the ice, so hopefully we’ll be able to get out with a minor amount of slipping in the morning.

{Now to buy a snow shovel to help with these infrequent storms. I’ll bet I should buy it on our next trip up north to visit family and friends or be prepared to pay a fortune down here.}

So, our plea: We’ve had enough cold and ice. We’re ready for sunny Texas skies.

And although I’ve appreciated the (unexpected) slower pace of life with two days at home, I’m ready to be back in the office. I want to focus on the tasks at hand without furbabies demanding a warm lap.

I’m selfish, aren’t I?
