What to do with Cantaloupe?

The coop has given us cantaloupe several deliveries in a row now. After a while, you can’t face eating cantaloupe for breakfast even one more time.

Out of desperation, I cleaned and chopped the latest cantaloupe, removing the rind, and stuck it in the freezer. There it’s sat for over a week as I’ve debated what to do.

We slept in this morning. By the time we got hungry, it was far too late to make a proper breakfast. I felt creative (must have been that extra sleep!) and thought it was high time I did something with the frozen cantaloupe.

Here’s what we ended up with:

Orange Cantana

1 3/4 c. orange juice
1/4 c. milk
2 t. honey
2 bananas, sliced and frozen
1/2 cantaloupe, slightly frozen

Combine thoroughly in blender for a smooth, not overly sweet breakfast drink. Makes 3 1/2 cups.

We agreed that this would be great with a touch of mint, too!
