I Wish I Believed You

Ben’s sitting on my lap right now, purring as I try to go through email and check the news. I wish this was about togetherness and love, but I know that’s it really isn’t.

This is about the wet treats.

Ben’s “I love you’s” and nose kisses and purring – at 5:30 in the morning – are a carefully calculated way to remind me that I need to take him in the kitchen and give him wet treats.

Bridget’s no better. She simply is smart enough to let Ben do all the sucking up.

Fortunately, Ben’s too dumb to remember that the wet treats started as a way to give him his antibiotics twice a day (Ben has FIV). Plus he’s too greedy to get the wet treats to spend his time hiding from his mama and the mouthwash that is always given around that time.

Poor dumb boy.
