And the Rocket’s Red Glare – Shrapnel Falling from Air

At least that’s how I think the song should go!

Last night we packed into the car and headed to my brother- and sister-in-law’s home for an all-American 4th of July dinner and fireworks show. The former was steaks and onions from Noonday, TX (unbelievably good), corn on the cob and baked potatoes. Yum.

The latter was provided courtesy of their country club. It was a beautiful show, and we had great seats/lounging spots on the edge of the driving range.

What wasn’t great were the bits of shrapnel (“INCOMING!!!”) that started hitting us midway through the show. It certainly made for a memorable experience!

We love the 4th of July, and how it reminds us of the sacrifice made by others throughout our history for the freedoms we enjoy today. A tiny bit of shrapnel from a firecracker is nothing compared to what others have experienced.
Happy birthday, USA!

  1. Sounds like Celebrate Freedom a few years ago… I remember being pelted by huge chunks of smoldering cardboard. Good times.

I was just gonna say that Stacie! Remember the sunglasses that got killed Shannah? You would think that people would be able to map it out for a safe 4th of July, especially being professionals and all ….

  3. Totally remember that experience – and mentioned it several times while being hit with little burning bits this year. 🙂
